Waking up, Colby was laying in bed, deciding to get up and go downstairs for breakfast. Getting closer he heard his dad and Uncle Derek talking. He couldn’t help but hear them talk about him growing up. His dad was glad that he had his Uncle Derek there for him, which he interpreted to mean, to do the right things, be good, and all that parent stuff, and possibly teaching him how to love and properly have sex with a man other than himself. But the real news came when his uncle told his dad, “It’s always better to keep it in the family. We did.” Then his dad added, “That back yard. All those nights in the tents.” His uncle responded, “Good times.” During this part of the conversation, Colby was already standing in the doorway and they never noticed. Colby would love to learn what happened in those tents and maybe he will someday.
