I put my hand on his thigh. I am not sure if I did that to calm him or steady myself, it was a gut reaction. I felt I couldn’t make eye contact with him right away. I took a few deep breaths. The next words out of my mouth could change my relationship with my boy forever. I wanted to be closer to him. I wanted him closer to me. I thought about how happy the Snow’s looked.
